exceptional valueKalachakra Thangka (Classic Tibetan instructional painting)
I am sure many of you have heard of - or have
attended - His Holiness The Dalai Lama's celebrated
teachings and initiation of the Kalachakra. These
extremely beautiful Kalachakra thankas refer to these
teachings, and address the instructional energetics of
the teachings. Each is unusually exquisite with much
24K GOLD detail - the photo does not do the thanka
justice, though CLICK ON THE PHOTO TO
ENLARGE....everything that looks like yellow in the
photo is actually 24K gold. The images themselves
measures 17" x 13", and overall they measures 27" x
18". Each is individually hand painted of course, with
a frame of solid-patterned silk, which compliments the
unusually delicate and fine detail of the painting.
These thankas were brought to me by a very special
Tibetan Lama who is a dear friend of mine, and we have
only a very limited number.

The Kalachakra symbol means 'The one with ten powers'.
It is very protective and dispels negativity. It
consists of seven individual syllables combined
together with three other components to make a total
of ten very powerful elements within the image. - The
Ten Powers are described as ten existences - body,
awareness, space, wind, fire, water, earth, stable,
moving, and the gods unseen and uncreated. Each part
of the Kalachakra symbol has deep specific meaning,
and is a great study unto itself.Kalachakra with his
consort Vishvamata, is the protector of the wheel of
time. Tantric deities are shown in the sexual union
with their consorts to emphasize the joining of female
wisdom with male compassion. The Kalachakra is one of
the most important teachings which have been practiced
purely for over a thousand years. This complex tantric
deity represents the Ultimate Union of enlightenment
where the masculine gives and serves the feminine in
all his universal capacity.

Chenrezig - Thangka #2
Chenrezig is the mode of being of the mind that is the
union of emptiness and compassion. He is the awakened
nature of each being's own mind, the love and
compassion primordially present in pure transcending
awareness. Chenrezig is within us because love and
compassion are not qualities added to the mind. These
qualities are part of the awakened state even if, for
the moment, this state exists only as a potential for
us. He is the visible expression taken by all the
Buddhas to help activate the love and compassion that
are presently only a potential in us and to reveal the
ultimate Chenrezig to ourselves. Chenrezig may be the
most popular of all Buddhist deities, except for
Buddha himself -- he is beloved throughout the
Buddhist world. As Chenrezig, he is considered the
patron Bodhisattva of Tibet, and his meditation is
practiced in all the great lineages of Tibetan
Buddhism. The beloved king Songtsen Gampo was believed
to be an emanation of Chenrezig, and some of the most
respected meditation masters (lamas), like the Dalai
Lamas and Karmapas, who are considered living Buddhas,
are also believed to be emanations of Chenrezig. His
mantra, famous over all of Asia, is OM MA NI PAD ME

Tsongkhapa lived in the 14th century A.D. in the Amdo
province of Tibet. He was the founder and reformer of
Gelukpa sect. He is regarded as an incarnation of
Manjusri who is the embodiment of wisdom. Lord Buddha
had prophesied that he would come to Tibet and diffuse
his doctrine there. He obtained the ordination of
monkhood in his early age and commenced to study
Buddha's doctrine. He travelled to central Tibet for
higher education on Buddha's teachings. He deeply
studied both Sutra and Tantra for many years. Randawa
was his chief teacher, from whom he specially learned
Madhyamika philosophy expounded by Nagarjuna. He
composed many books on Sutra and Tantra in which he
tried to explicate the important and knotted points.
