Tibetan Blessing or Offering Scarf, or
Kata

The Tibetan Kata is offered to Lamas for them to bless and give back to you by draping the scarf around your bowed neck. The scarfs are presented when loved one arrives from traveling or coming to visit, and also given to our Lamas and loved ones for 'safe travels' at the point of departure such as an airport. They can be used to decorate sacred pictures and objects by draping the scarf lovingly around the item.

The offering of a Kata is a well-known Tibetan custom. Kata scarves are traditionally offered to a Lama for blessings, then returned to you by placing the scarf around your bowed neck. As a greeting, the kata symbolizes the very best intentions and happiness of the giver. When given as a farewell, the Khata symbolizes the wish for a safe journey and return. On some occasions the kata is presented and not returned, such as birthdays and other special events that are personal to the receiver. Our khatas are made of silk and have the Eight Auspicious Signs woven into them. They come in 5 ' or 8' lengths. the longer one is considered an especially gracious offering. Item #RI-KTA.

Our return policy:
5 day return policy. Please email or call us before returning an item. In the event of an unauthorized return, there will be a 30% restocking fee! Credit will be given on returned product only. Sorry, we cannot accept returns on books, CD's or supplements.
