Classic 'Pillow' Box, Leather-CoveredA beautiful box in the classic shape of the Chinese pillow, except instead of being made of porcelain, ours is elegantly covered in genuine leather with the dragon and phoenix stamped in gold on the top, and on the front there are two sets of peaches. Inside the box is lined with old Chinese almanac pages. Very well made, and will last lifetimes. This box has a brass latch and handles on each end. Measures 13" x 4" x 5". Item #GI_LEBOX. Picture. The traditional Chinese pillow box with its elegant concave lid was used by travelers to guard their money and jewels during the night. They would place important valuables in the box and then sleep on it - hence the name. |
