The concept of a "tonic," as it is applied here, comes from a
Chinese tradition known as Fu Zhen therapy. In Fu Zhen therapy
the objective is to support and stimulate deep energy systems
within the body. Optimal functioning of these energy systems
makes the body much stronger and resistant to degeneration. The
intention of the Chinese was to slow down the aging process and
make the body resistant to diseases and chronic/degenerative conditions.
